Hello Family and welcome new subscribers!
This is just a reminder to let you know that I will be visiting Detroit, Michigan (for the very first time!) to give this year’s Bauder Lecture as part of the Marygrove Conservancy’s Contemporary American Authors Lecture Series (CAALS). The topic will be my experience as a Black student in an M.F.A. writing program. Join me for:
“Shoo, Fly, Shoo! Black Artistic Survival Beyond the Swatting Hand of Workshop Whiteness”
Friday, April 28, 2023
8 p.m. ET
The Marygrove Conservancy
8425 West McNichols Road
Detroit, Michigan 48221
Admission is free, but registration is required. To register, please click: CAALS Bauder Lecture with Robert Jones, Jr.
(If you can’t make it in person, then you really won’t want to miss the livestream on YouTube or Facebook courtesy of Detroit Public Television, a viewer-supported PBS member station.)
Time permitting, I will also be reading selections from The Prophets, after which there will be a Q&A with the audience and a book signing.
If you are in or near Detroit, Michigan, or will be at this time, I would love to see you for what will be a deeply honest, revealing, serious, and, in my opinion, much-needed discussion. Because what? Reading came first.
To see what else is coming up on my calendar, please visit my website.
Take good care. And as always, may the Ancestors love and keep you.
Blessings upon blessings,
Robert
