Good day Family,
The New York State general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, but you can vote early from Saturday, October 26 to Sunday, November 3, 2024. There is no early voting on Monday, November 4, 2024.
(If you live in a state or territory other than New York, please visit usa.gov to get information about any state-specific election questions, requests, and resources. There’s already been record turnout for early voting in places like Georgia and North Carolina.)
Who's on the Ballot?
In this election, voters will be selecting candidates for the following offices:
President
Vice President
U.S. Senate
U.S. House of Representatives
State Senate
State Assembly
New York State Supreme Court
Civil Court
Surrogate's Court
While there are valid reasons to be cynical, I find that it’s very dangerous to not exercise my Constitutional right to vote. I reject calls for me to willingly surrender my right to vote (a right my Ancestors actually fought and died for; I don’t care how “cliche” that sounds) on the basis of claims to a nonexistent, unachievable “moral purity,” which produces strategies that have proven time and time again to accomplish the opposite of its stated goals.
Me, my husband, my mother-in-law, and everybody on my damn block will be marching our Black asses right down to the voting place and casting our votes for the Kamala Harris/Tim Walz ticket. In addition to selecting public officials, there are also SIX VERY IMPORTANT BALLOT MEASURES FOR US TO VOTE ON IN NEW YORK—including a proposal to add “protections to the State Constitution’s Bill of Rights to prohibit discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, origin, age, disability, and sex — including sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, and pregnancy outcomes. It would also protect New Yorkers who seek access to reproductive healthcare from discrimination on that basis.”
Imagine what could happen if that proposal fails to get enacted. Let’s make sure that Donald Trump—and any of the politicians who share his corrupt vision of the world—are not elected and/or are voted out!

“It might be tempting to write me off as a bougie negro who has lost touch with his community, but I’d like to point out that the overwhelming majority of Black male voters are going to do exactly what I do: vote for Harris. Harris will receive between 85 and 90 percent of the Black male vote. I acknowledge that the difference between 85 percent and 90 percent could be the difference in Harris winning or losing a critical state or two, but I simply refuse to engage in a conversation that paints Black male support as the ‘problem’ for Harris in this election. Over 60 percent of white men are going to vote for a convicted felon. Somewhere around 50 percent of white women are going to vote for an adjudicated rapist and devout misogynist. Black men are not your problem, Democrats.
The ‘problem’ in this country is how the majority of white people vote. The force holding this country back is the majority of white people. The people who have turned against democracy are the majority of white people. The global force destroying the environment of this earth is the majority of white people. If you are in the white liberal minority and you want to freak out about something, freak out about your cousins and grandmothers and colleagues who are about to cast a ballot for an unhinged authoritarian. Go deal with the white people in your life instead of placing the burden on Black folks to save this country from the majority of white folks yet again.”
